CE Lancer Possible Engine Conversions

These motors can make plenty of power
But I was also pushed in this direction by scoring a free crashed magna with a 2.6 in it.

Hi All,

Has anyone ever put a diesel into a coupe like a 4D65 1.8Litre

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Sirius_engine#4d63

or a 4D68 2Litre

I have a 1999 CE Lancer Coupe 1.5 Auto Hulk as the engine has died. I bought another 4D15 a guy took out of a Mirage for $50 but I don't know if it's worth swapping unless I can do it myself. The guy I bought the engine from said he was going to put a v6 in the Mirage.

Regards

John

i think over in the states they came out with a 4d68 or 4d65 or something around those lines in their CE sedans, so import one of them over. if you really want to venture down this path i expect it to be $$$$ with all the *poo* you have to do to even get it RHD ready

I have a 2004 Magna with a 3.5 v6 6g7 engine that I got for sheep off gumtree, does any one know if it’s possible to swap the engine in to my 97 lancer gli ce 1.5l?

If you have to ask, chances are no you can’t do this swap. In saying that there are plenty of easier bolt in swaps that are achievable for the average person

Yup, done in PR.
Used an adaptor plate and one custom engine mount.
99% sure they had to use an aftermarket ecu, and muck around with a lot of stuff to get it going

It'd be a nice swap if it were easy.
Light weight engine, 2.4L capacity is easy to attain, and the engine is slanted towards the firewall for better weight balance and handling.

Consider the amount of work required, a K20/24 would be better for the same amount of effort

Granted,
But then you might as well just buy a cheap EG Civic which will make it easier still (with conversion parts available off the shelf) and have a better package overall.

I guess the allure would be to keep a Mitsubishi engine and/or 4B11T conversion

most places in aus require that your donor engine not be older than the car, right?

To a degree yeah. In vic its meant to be, but its moreso only an issue with older cars (think aussie muscle stuff), and stuff around emission years (e.g. 1986, 1995, etc). Swapping in a 1996 4g93 into a 2003 Mirage isnt an issue, because to my knowledge the car never had any updates to the emissions in aus during this time
