Hi everyone
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer CE (although on paperwork it was listed as CE2).
Today whilst going for a long drive in warm weather I had the fan and cooling going full blast and for over an hour. Just as I turned off the freeway I started smelling something burning with an electrical type of smell - most unpleasant. I wasn't sure whether it was my car or something the air conditioning had sucked in from another car.
Shortly afterwards I noticed that my fan had stopped blowing. The AC button light remained on but nothing was coming out of the vents.
When I got home I grabbed a multimeter. I saw that the blower fan was located under the glovebox so I pulled the plug from the fan and measured the voltage. There was none. I then checked the fuses and it appears that there is a 25A fuse for the air conditioning and it was blown. I replaced it and turned the AC on only to find that the replacement fuse had also blown.
It looks to me like the blower motor is gone and needs replacing. I am located in eastern Melbourne near Bayswater. Where I the best/cheapest place to pick up a second hand replacement motor - Pick A- Part maybe? I can easily pull a blower motor out of a car.
Also what part number is the appropriate part number for the blower motor (including AC)? Which other years and models Lancers used the same part?
Thanks
Peter
