Looking for some advice on 2pac, i've done it before but i would like more information to be better at it.

eg. best gun nossle size
Air pressure required.
brands of paint/thiners.

any thing really, and golden knowledge anyone has on this topic would be great.

ok here goes,

nozzle size,1.4mm(for 2pac primer) & a 1.8mm for 2pac paint

air pressure,30-40 psi is what i usaly use

& i use all dulux paint/thinners & additives it's exspensive but it's good quality & if the area that your painting is high flex like say a side skirt or rear bumper add a bit of flexi add

& the best advice i can give you is don't over do the coats as the paint still moves for 4-5mins after you have painted it on & use a gravity feed gun not a suction feed gun & good luck

Flexi aid is good i've used it before and yes i have a gravity feed gun, how do i tell that nozzle size is it written on it?

yeah it should be written on the front of the nozzle

So what about spray distance from panel, speed of motion.

Pretend i know nothing, maybe someone could do a DIY on it.

wrong wrong wrong

firstly
use a 1.8 mm or 2 mm gun for 2 pac primer and acrylic paints
1.3/1.4/ for color and clear coat.
you should have 1 gun for each .

secondly,air pressure.
hvlp should be 27 psi
conventional guns like iwatta around 50 psi

gun distance
if the fan is 6 inches wide then gun should be 6 inches away from surface.
if a smaller 4 inch fan, then 4 inches from surface.

gun stroke

always overlap 50%.
always paint the edges first, then the whole panel.

i use debeers 2 k thinner.$50 for 4 litres

to tell what size gun you have unscrew the air cap and its written on the fluid tip

here's a useful link as well

yeah i did actualy but it needs redoing as the fibreglass is strating to split & then it's spliting through the paint not really noticable but i hate knowing it's there lol

Is there a different mix ratio when using primer filler instead of just primer

yeah there is but i can't rember it lol, if you want to know exactley what your doing get a mix ratio ruler from 3D PAINT & it'll have primer, primer filler, clear coat, paint mixing ratios on it they come in handy

will get one today, painting my crap up today, and johns coming to get his bars painted

are you painting them for him? if i wasn't busy today i would have came up & helped out

yes they are different.
primer filler is thicker so the ratio is 4 parts primer to 1 part hardener.then add 5% 2 pac thinner.that means if you want to make 1 litre of mixed primer= pour 800 mls primer,200 mls hardner and 50 mls of thinner.

primer or primer surfacer is exactly the same ratio except it is a thinner so that means you add more thinner .4 parts primer,1 part hardener,10 to 15 % thinner.so basically you would add 100 to 150 mls of thinner to 1 litre of mixed primer.

a good tip with anything but especially primer is mix the tin first.primer is aways thick at the bottom of the tin so mix it for 5 minutes so the consistecy is the same
what hardener are you using.slow,medium,fast.

yea going to paint today, he is sick of silver i think he his coming over at 930 and we going to get paint
