Hey guys my lancer has hit 330k and still running very well, I have maintained it meticulously (mech day job), I can't figure out why but its averaging 14l/100km.

Anyone else had similar results, its mainly city driving? I want to reset ecu check cat etc, but would like to hear previous experiences or fixes before i put time or money into it, cheers. :D

Um not sure of the usage per 100 but i normally get around 400/450kms out of a full tank in my 07 CH thats not driving kike a grandma and not driving like a pplater in their first week

That's horrid fuel consumption :|
My Mrs BF falcon does 9.8L, I think I'd be looking in to why it's almost a third worse than falcon.

Slee, you should get a fuel app for your phone if you want to keep track. I use Road Trip LE

if it's a non-mivec 2.0L then its way too much... if 2.4L different story. I get about 400kms too but consumption is about 10-12L (2.4L)

Thanks for the info I had wondered if the 2.4 would use much more fuel. My wagon would usually would get around between 8 - 10l per 100... not sure why the increase lately, oh well let the investigations begin!

Cheers!

At this rate I would probably be better off driving an 8 haha! Yeah i'll definately be looking into it doing further testing. 'll report back any findings!

thanks!

Trying to read up on this now but a few of the links aren't working. I've just picked one up and (2.4 ch wags) and it's horrible it chugs fuel 330ks and the fuel light came on compared to my 2L ch its horrible I almost get 100ks out of it before it comes on

give it an oil oil service with the correct oil. A 5w-30 that meets the ACEA A3/B4-16 grade is what I’ve been using with no drama. The mivec solenoids can be a bit fussy on oil grade so don’t put in a thicker oil cause it’s “an older engine”. Check the last time it had plugs too, they should be platinum iridiums. Throttle body clean wont hurt and neither will a comp test, to ensure it’s in good stead.

the 2.4’s are thirsty 400km per tank is an average to aim for. Can get nearly 750 per tank on fwy.
