05 CH es randomly cut out just once

Was driving along and the car just cut out. It was running perfect before it happened and started straight back up when I turned the key and kept running fine.
About 5 minutes before it happened I gave it a boot full and sat at high speed (won't say how fast) for about 15 ks so maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyone got any ideas what happened and any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Check your ground leads or if your battery is held in properly. The jerky ness of a fast drive can disp lace them to where they have an attitude occasionally

Checked battery and leads, the battery is firmly bolted down and apart from a bit of corrosion on the negative all seems fine

How did the car turn off? Did it spluuter out or was it like you just turned the key off?

The E36 at home does a similar thing, just stalls like you turned the key off - but only ever at idle or under 1500 rpm. This is due to a failing crank angle or cam angle sensor. Both have fraying wires and both are expensive to replace on a BMW, so I’m waiting for it to become a serious issue and then replace & rewire. Likely, this will not bring up a fault code as the sensor reading is still in a normal range.

If it sounds like the above, might be worth looking at. If it spluttered to a stop gotta look at air and fuel related items. Wait for it to fault again and give us some more info.

check terminals, battery, alternator. check grounds. make sure plug are in decent condition and plug in cleanly. make sure grounds are clean and bolted down.
long process but if you stumble across anything that is out of ordinary, thats one problem out of the way.

It was like turning the key off just died suddenly.
All the plugs and wires I can get to easily seem fine except for the passenger side coil plug had a bit of moisture in it so just left it unplugged in the sun for an hour to dry it out. I'm hoping that was the cause (but a bit doubtful) and not crank or cam sensor
