Hey Guys,

Looking to swap pins 8 and 22 on the ECU (Long story, viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7795), but first time doing it and not really sure what I'm meant to be looking for... I got some photos so maybe it's staring me right in the face

Is the ECU accessible from here?

>.< haha awesome.. I saw a picture earlier that made it look like the drivers side, must of been inverted :/ Thanks guys! I'll get into the other side tomorrow... lol

If you have an auto, the TCU is behind what you've already pulled out (cig lighter/radio/etc.) but yeah ECU is in the area behind the glovebox but on the side of the door. Need to take off like a small panel or two to get at it.

Maybe it's your hair in your eyes, but I can count 3 pedals, you might need to take your other shoe off to make sure Rigby.

Whut? I can see, was just adding extra info. Cus learning. You sassy *mum*, Trent

I would have thought the gearstick would have given it away lol

But I guess he hasn't seen 1 of them before

Hey Guys,

I've got access to the ECU and all the modules that plug into it, nothing is numbered though it seems and having a hard time trying to find which pins to swap around.
I've got the 96-2001 Colt Lancer Service Manual and colt_lancer_98_electrical, can't find anything else that could identify the modules, searched on afew of the other threads but no diagrams as such

My ECU is a MD360479 E2T73772 H8

Thanks in Advance, much appreciated. Better yet, if anyone in Brisbane can actually get my car started, I'll give you a carton haha

Thanks, that looks about right. Those pins are a pain in the arse but at least I know which ones to remove.

I have heard of this ECU pin swapping deal before but nobody actually said exactly what was getting swapped???
If NeonX91 is not an electrical genius maybe a real simple step by step would help??

basicly by swapping these two pins he will disable the immobiliser... to get the pins out you need to slide a small thin bit of wire (paperclip) into the front of the plug for each wire and push down on the metal clip and pull the wire and clip out... tedious work
Are you sure about that wire diagram that has been posted up it looks like the US one... pins are still the same for this job but there are more connection points on here than what is in our AU cars

Well explained. ;)
When I first heard of the so called pin swapping procedure I freaked out because the pins are in the ECU so I thought pin swapping naturally meant open heart surgery on the ECU itself! , strewth! thats heavy!
Swapping terminals in a box plug by comparison is something anybody with a bit of patience could do.
Might I suggest for the sake of the inexperienced the procedure in future not be called "pin swapping" , something less confusing?? ECU cable terminal swapping etc etc.............

Sorry to bring up such an old thread, but has anyone actually had success with swapping the pins around (22 and 8)??

I'm looking at trying this as a last resort.

Also, i cannot see the image above which shows which pins i need to swap. Can anyone help?

Thanks

I can send a picture of the wiring diagram from the Haynes manual for the ecu pin out, if you'd like? If need the engine size though
