My intro to the community

G'day guys n gals,

Im a newish member in that i believe my old account got deleted for inactivity, however i never did much with my car other than manage to get matty to do my timing belt and bleed my brakes plus other adjustments to my care, always left a good impression on me even more so the insane cheap price it cost me for it all TY matty!

So im in brisbane and my car is a bone stock 1.5l gli that did have a sporty body kit that i hated but never had the courage to try changing it unless this year!

Normally im not the type to use forums unless i plan to be active with in said forums and i figured now is about the right time.

So far iv removed the old body kit with some unpleasant results in that the front bumper is not painted where the front lip was and removing the black goo/tar from the side skirts equals some removal of the clear/base paint lol.

My bonnet had major clear peeling on it where only 1/3 of it remained and my roof looked dull. So i got a polisher and some cutting compound and managed to get my roof looking nice and shiny minus a stuff up again where i went to the primer (im a brute force type of guy and im learning not to be the hard way but im not phased by failures)

The next thing iv done removed the bonnet and sanded it all back to metal by hand over two days and i legit lost 2 kilos doing so mostly water weight im sure...

I got myself a air compressor and spray guns plus some primers etch, surface and few extra things for starting the painting process. not enough money for a couple months to buy the paint n clear but im fine with rocking primer for a little while.

My plans for the car is one day a track car as it is my first car and i basicly joined these forums and have been watching all your progress every since silently in the background so most of my plans are the standard 1.8 swap, coilovers, interior to MR and MR body kit. Also in the short term am looking at using dye to change the colour of my roof lining and depending how well this guys trying it out on other areas like the door fabs.

Iv taken a few pictures of the progress with some things and i will make a car thread some day soon, likely after i finish with painting.

for those that care my gender is coke bottle if that matters at all.

Cheers!

Welcome/welcome back. Solid plans and achievable as well, especially if you're new to engine work. I dig the body work though, and yes that black sikaflex is a pain in the ass to remove. I'd only recommend using it on things you NEVER want to come off ever again, otherwise screws/double sided tape is the go.

Welcome (back). Normally accounts dont get deleted unless its like 8 years of no activity, and even then its a manual process, but we have gone through a couple of server migrations so it may have been lost at some point. PM me if you find your old username or remember what email it is and i can try to reactivate it.

As you've seen, plenty of info about, any other questions just ask!
