Thank you for your enquiry.

In 1999 we staged six rounds within an eleven-week period. The reason for this
timeframe was due to a late start in the season. Lessons learnt from the 99 Series
have been invaluable in preparing this year.

Oran Park (Grand Prix) 1:20:92

I am delighted to advise that the 2000 Mirage Series first round has been included
in the prestigious Clipsal 500 Adelaide 6-9th April. We have been allocated three
races within the event one on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I have a gearbox out of one of these.
I don't know exactly what is inside it but the LSD is a clutch type 1.5 way and the ratios seems shorter than what I would expect the CJ4a to have, in the sense that at 100km/h I'm pretty sure it's at around 4,000+rpm.

There's a bit of a gap between 4th and 5th though which judging by the stock ratios is what I'd expect since Mitsubishi wanted to drop the cruising rpm in 5th.
Adding the 5th gear from a 1.8 or 1.5 gearbox would be better for performance.

Could make your own series, stock mirage class and maybe 4g93/4 drop in. no mods to keep it cheap.

Would you be interested in selling it?
Our Mirage track car is almost a cup car, cup shocks, cup cage and a 4G92 RS head on a 4G93 block and big AP breaks. It dose 1:13's around Wakefield.

I'd only sell it if I was parting the car and currently I'm not looking to do that.
It's a track only car for me and I'd like to step up to a better track car (currently dreaming of an 86 + turbo) but that's not anytime soon.
Sorry, I do know these transmissions are extremely rare so good luck with your search.

I'd suggest just changing the final drive to an aftermarket 4.9 or so and an LSD, you'd be most of the way to what the transmissions are.
Another major difference is 1st gear is taller in these so you fall back into MIVEC range from 1st to 2nd but this may not really be important for a track only car as you're never in 1st.

Gotta love the cup cars and all the history behind them like racing in Japan first then the Australian cup.
I’ve had the pleasure of working on a few of them in W.A.
They are such a good little race car that I’ve just bought one and am waiting on delivery.

Sweet write up, donks. Was wondering where these cars ended up, surely there's gotta be one or two still floating around out there?

I saw one for sale just before Christmas, The guy selling it was one of the series organizers. At least I got to sit in it. :sunglasses:

The car had been sitting for a long time, needed a bit of love. I wanted to buy it, but have nowhere to store it until I rebuild my house.
