Hi All
I'm thinking about getting the last model wagon before they discontinued them.
Looking for the specs the length suggested ranges from
4570mm to 4600mm long.
What is the rear length please,
Cheers

Now im not a mathematician, but you want to confirm the overall length of the car down to 3cm?

There are 2 types of each generation of bumpers for both front and rear. Each bunper (1st gen, 2nd gen, vrx ect) has a snub nose and a full length version. Unfortunatly I cannot tell you which car will have which as there apears to be no consistent markings. Theres about an inch different on each bumper.

I would just assume the longest listed measurement is the largest space it will take up, if you are measuring up for garage parking.

Well yes
Though I didn't include there are some sizes lists at 4340ish as well.
If I had of done that maybe I wouldn't appear like A TOTAL WEIRDO :).

Thanks SDate42
I need 4600mm to carry long stuff on the roof, legally.
about 6.5m long.
legally 1200mm max out the front (Front Ladder rack to hold it up, not heavy), plus the wagon plus the sum of 60% of wheel base from back wheel outback. 1200+4600+1600 (1600 makes up about 800 from back wheel centre to back of car plus about 800 outback) = 6600mm. 100mm is for not having the stuff perfectly positioned on the racks officer. Its close.
Lancer wagon and Astra wagon (Though Astra might be too short at 4.515mm long) are wagons with a very flat roof line like the old day wagons, with no stupid sloping back roofs. So the roof racks, I can have 1 rack up front over the drivers head and way down the back just in front of the tail gate. Most wagons these days only allow for the front rack behind the drivers head on the roof and over the heads of the rear passengers, which is pretty useless (about 600mm separation), unless you only want to car a boggie board :(.

Also as a highway car whats the 2.4 litre manual like on fuel L/100 ks?

next option is going real old to a magna wagon which I don't want to go that old. Not really. Too thirsty in the city.

Hmm now I understand the length issue a bit better. Probably best off going to a car yard with a tape measure.

As for fuel, the 2.4 is a little thirsty as an auto, about 10L per 100 in moderate traffic. Avg 20kph speed for the tank. Worst we’ve had is 350kms from a tank. On the highway it got close to 700kms from the 40L, but never drove 100% highway for a full tank. Unsure if a wagon is worse.

Perhaps ask @hornunga or @wagonmaster or @Alex_96

I do get funny looks when I get the measuring tape out. I will though when one turns up.

Not many wagons about to go look at. Tassie based, hence not many options.
Thanks again.

According to the CH wagon manual (2006), lengths are ES: 4475mm VRX: 4540mm. That extra 65mm appears to be solely from the front bar, front overhang (from centre of front wheel to nose tip), ES: 900mm VRX: 965mm.

Where did you find that?
Gee must be a huge bumper. Compare to the normal one.

Maybe my wish the length is 4600 might be false, Though I will go check one when one turns up in a car yard.

Thanks SDate42

Sorry about late reply, yes Richard S is correct with the overall lengths as per ch handbook, if you have a lancer evo 7 spoiler fitted, you add an extra 70mm to the length.

Also the Ch wagon's give you 3 factory mount points on the roof if you wish to carry larger loads , starting from the top front windscreen the first mount point is aprox 470mm at center, followed by 1230mm and the 3rd mount point is 1830mm from front screen.

Oh and yes what SDate42 said about the fuel economy and about the difference in bumper bars is correct, marginal difference between them of aprox 25mm.

Hope that helps.
