Improving headlights

Hello all,

CH Lancers have pretty terrible headlights, especially after a BF Falcon whose lights are exceptional. Wondering what (non-Xenon) options are available for improving the Lancers headlights? Has anyone installed relays or such for higher watt globes etc?

I found the following headlight assembly on ebay, a projector set, anyone know much about them? I searched here and found one guy that tried an aftermarket set of lights but had wiring issues. Unfortunately the OP never gave a final verdict on his success or lack of, the thread died out without a conclusion.

Hi mate,

Im currently trialling a few custom setups in standard headlights. If youre game, you can split open a standard headlight, remove the reflector tab and install a set of projector lenses. The lenses then allow you to run LED, HID, or whatever else you want. Im using the morrimoto projectors, as they are a known quality product and are fairly priced. TRS sell them, but postage is killer from USA.

I havent done any research on aftermarket complete headlights for the Ch after owning a CE. The avalible ones for the CE are the epitome of cheap - poor projector lenses and they arent well sealed. Let us know if you end up getting them.

Which projectors did you go with for your retrofit? I'm currently in the process of fitting a pair of MH1 7.0's into a pair of CE/Evo Headlights, still waiting to get my reflector and shrouds back from the painters though.

When I've done my retrofits, i use the Morimoto Mini H1 (have used the version 5s, and v6.0 currently), 35w and mini gat shrouds. Seems to do the job pretty well, as you'd hope for $250 worth of head light parts lol

Pretty reasonable. I'm adding XBT RGB halos and Profile Demon eyes to mine, had to go an E46-R shroud as the mini gatling isn't big enough to cover the park light hole. If I'm going to do it, I may as well add all the fruit.

G'Day SDate

On the aftermarket complete headlight kits, thought I'd let you know I just got left and right for $167.00 from an Aussie seller on Ebay. Good quality, well sealed and comes with all new screws and plastic tabs for when you break the originals taking the lights out.

My headlight were faded and scratched and hardly projected any light, since I put the new headlights in, it has made an amazing difference to the drive at night. As for removing the reflector tab, you can use a Dremel with the flexible end bit to go into the light and cut the tab off. I didn't do this but my friend did to his car and it worked a treat.

Cheers

Ross
