Immobiliser bypass

Ok. So I changes the key barrel assy and the little box on the drivers side center console upper. Matching unit from the wreakers. Still the same issue. Do these need to match the ecu? Have I done something wrong here? This is really starting to get frustrating.

You need a matching set of key, key barrel, imob/key reader and ECU. Door locks dont matter, just need to keep a key to use to open them.

Hens will get back to you eventually. If youre in sydney, I can help out.

So I do need the matching ecu!?
Yeah I don't see how the door locks would matter. It's a track day car for the missus so only gets used every now and then anyway.

Does it matter if it's a 1.5 ecu on a 1.8 engine? My guess is it would

How are you going to unlock the doors with a different key lol

And yes it does matter for 1.5/1.8L ecu. The're different engines, and use different ECU to run.

Edit: i know for sdate's series of ECU it must match the imob and key, but the CE uses a different type of ECU chip, which to my knowledge doesnt reference the imob code, only a yes or no start signal. I could be wrong though, and it might be best to get the ecu also

I bought a key set a few years ago as a just in case.
The set included ECU, immobilizer, keys, key barrel, reader and locks for doors and boot.
The guy said it would be all I needed without worry of mismatching. It’s what I’ve always gone off and I know he did a few 1.5 - 1.8 upgrades using the same method without any hassles.

Yeah I think I'll go get the ecu. Just gotta hope the wreakers that I got the key and immobiliser box from is a 1.8lt version.

I really hope this is the issue. So over this. If this doesn't sort it I'll Have to admit defeat and take it to an auto elec.. which will be hard for me to do aha

Issue fixed. After replacing everything. Ecu key and immobiliser. Turns out it was the key reader on the barrel...

Oh well it's running now. Time to fit the race car parts and get the missus out to mallala this weekend racing her sister.

Cheers for your help guys!!
