Footwell Lights

Hey all,

I was looking for the signal wire for when the door opens and couldn't fit it. Also cannot find a wiring diagram anywhere/manual.

Anyone done footwell lights to turn on when the door opens? Just wondering if you could help us out and tell me what colour wire it is and location of it??

The car is a 1998 Lancer MR (Coupe)

Thanks

you can get the signal from the fusebox/BCM or from the drivers side a pillar.

the signal is a negative switch (so gives a ground when door is open) should look for the black and black with white trace, dont remember which one does what off the top of my head but will be able to tell you tomorrow as i will be playing around in that area tomorrow.

Yeah I found the wire from the actual switch, took off the panels on the inside right next to where it is, and bobs your uncle!

Spot on, that's where I ran my footwell lights from & a VIP spec dimmer/delay for all interior lights. One of the little things that brought my mirage in the 21st century.

My signal wire ended up being this one.

Possibly you have connected to the wrong wire and the VIP spec dimmer /delay may be sending small pulses along this wire which is causing false readings to be receive indicating false door lock status, check a wiring Diagram to double check connection, better still disconnect both additions again and see if problem persists.
Also Check you haven't disturbed any connections and that all plugs are connected ok.

Looks like maybe you picked up the actual circuit do the door switches themselves. To use this wire, you will need to run it through a relay so as to not interfere with the circuits, or alternatively, find the power supply on the fuse/terminal block just below the steering wheel (door side). Black & black/white wires as mentioned above.

Damn it, now the alarm goes off and it doesn't unlock/lock the door sometimes -.-.

You didn't say if this is like a random thing that happens when your in the car driving along or does it only happen when you open door with or without a key or is it when you use the remote (if you have one that is) as you didn't specify above when it happens.

It was only happening when you open the door. Yes used the Negative signal from the door switch blue/orange. They are led's so didn't think they would interfere. But for the positive. I got it from the blue/yellow off the etac's(bcm). Which also goes to the immob/alarm box but I don't know what it is. I just probed until I found a constant power source. Which I have now disconnected from the led's and all works fine. I will try a run to the battery for power and see how that goes I guess.
