Not to knowledgeable with my lancer but looking to gain some. At the moment my car has major acceleration lag im just curious as to if this is common with CE lancers if so whats the fix. If not would anyone have any ideas of what to check

i suspect more information may be required.
auto or manual?
engine 1.5 or 1.8 or other?
explain your definition of acceleration lag? not turbo I'm assuming?

Auto
1.5
When i plant my foot down itll take a second or two to go. The revs will just max out then itll kick in

Sounds like a normal auto. Does the power come on way better if you give it a little throttle and gradually go foot to the floor instead of instant foot to the floor? Would just be the ecu and tcu working together to make sure nothing breaks and explodes.

If even under light throttle it doesn't like to move, I'd say your timing is out, probably retarded by 1 or more degrees, especially if the power all kicks in after a certain rpm

so you floor it... the motor revs out for 1-2 seconds then it goes... motor revs drop?

sounds like the auto box to me... clutch pack slipping or torque converter... sorry don't have an auto maybe someone else has more expertise. :)

too late...

Alot better if gradual so should i retune my ecu ? And im replacing trans fluid to see if itll help

Nope that's just how autos work. If you want to thrash it, manually change down to 1st or 2nd or whatever you need. But it will wear the box out over a long period of time. Or a short period if you dont let it change gears properly while doing that. Mine lasted 2 years of thorough abuse before it died (after an addtional 18 years of not being abused).

Just learn how much throttle and when to apply it based on your current speed and gear etc and you'll have all the power you need. Flooring it will always net you a laggy response though.

The gearbox or the engine lmao.

You can't force it to do something it's not built to do. But what you can do is learn how the gearbox changes, where your powerband is in each gear and how the revs increase or decrease in certain gears at certain speeds. Then you can bang it down a gear or 2 or know what speed to floor it at so you can get the maximum performance out of the car.

For example, with the 4 speed auto gearbox if you floor it at 80+ you will only change down 1 gear. If you floor it at 70 you'll change down 2. Because that's just how the tcu works. Now if you're going 80 and wanna change down 2 gears you have to do it manually.

That's exactly what auto 1.5 does, there's not a lot of fix man, you just have to learn that like 75% throttle is Max for a gear and 80 might drop it one gear and foot to floor may drop it two gears etc like however it knows. If anything don't reset the ecu, just change the fluid regularly if you're thrashing it. I had one for a long time and you just kind if get better at getting the most out of it.

Get your hands on a service manual, Haynes or Gregory's and it'll tell you step by step. It's a bible for all tbings car and is invaluable

Best way is get a trans service. Costs about 150.
They flush the trans, clean the pan, new sealant new gaskets new filters.
