Install Steering Wheel Controls

Hi Guys

Just doing a bit of research, but contemplating buying a Joying Android Head Unit. I did a search but wasn't able to find a definitive answer to "is it possible to replace a stock CE steering wheel with one with steering wheel controls"?

Yes and no
Providing the steering wheel you find is compatible with the spline on the existing CE shaft then yes it will fit but I dont recall CE's coming with a steering wheel control from the factory so whatever one you do choose you will have to mod in some way for it to work. (yes its very possible)
The Joying head unit looks just like a tablet (from my 20 second investigation) so perhaps a bluetooth remote glued to your existing wheel would be the more practical option? Some head units come with clip on remotes so you can have a similar to factory wheel control but they are generally wireless because you dont want cables wrapping around your steering wheel while you drive.

Keen to hear how you resolve this issue

I would look into doing something similar to the mazda 3/6 controls on the centre console. Its like a dial style control and driving my mates car with it it seems so fluent. It would be better that way if its a manual aswell since you dont need to put and 2nd hand on the wheel just to change volume track etc. Something ive been thinkging about as a mod. Just need to look into what controls i can buy to interface to my headunit. Much easier then working out what steering wheel will fit/ *fudge*ing around with clock springs/ losing airbags.

I've been looking more into the headunit itself and might hold off for now.
I think replacing a steering wheel seems to be out of my skill range. If I did want the remote controls I would go with your suggestion cesario and prob find a bluetooth remote controls that I can attach or glue to the stock steering wheel.
