what did you do on your car today???

I had both car and motorbike due on the same day :( $1200 bye bye

Wow! That's seems ridiculous, perhaps we as motorists should form a national lobby to get a fair deal. More of our taxes, fines, petrol levies etc: and this sought of thing put into improved, adequate infrastructure.

Speed and alcohol kill but the third and possibly even the greater killer is overcrowded, inadequate roads. EG: places where accident after accident keep occurring.
Does every one stop and have a swig or rev their cars up before hitting these spots? Reduction in frustration and improved design would help in the reduction of the consequences.

Reduce the road deaths, injury and heartache in the only way that can be positively accomplished. Along with the so far apparently failed attempts of changing drivers attitudes and behavior

Double the speed cameras but always with a flash and perhaps a roadside sign showing, you have just passed a speed camera and even at times placing a second speed camera further down the road. Causing An immediate reaction and positive caution, hopefully after the first.

Rather then the idiot say travelling at excessive speed, totally unaware that he has passed a speed camera and further down the road increasing the road carnage. By killing or injuring himself or someone else.

A warning of speed cameras might reduce revenue but it sure as hell will make it safer and has to help reduce the road carnage. Safety rather than Revenue.

Improved roads and freeways designed to be adequate for todays and tomorrows traffic. Financed by the super duper massive amounts of cash received from US the motorists.

Help the economy. Easy Reduce the politicians wages and perks which by comparison to say English or American politicians is I believe up to double and they have to look after up to double or more of the people.

So perhaps we even need less of them. Then there is the massive amount they get paid on retirement or booted out. Plus the perks. Currently is it five or six ex PMs with chauffer driven limousines, an office with two staff and associated expenses.
For instance each of these would I believe cover the cost of keeping 10 age pensioner couples with change left over. Frasers incidentals apparently would I believe have done that.

The answers are simple and have been proven worldwide. More police presence. Less speed cameras and traps. And outstanding driver training. The training is the problem. How many people say they don't know how to change a tyre or where the oil dipstick is or how to use a screwdriver? How can you expect them to know braking thresholds, how to handle cars in the wet and how to read traffic/judge distances? The roads are *poo* but the drivers are worse. Start at the root.

Hi rigby, While I agree with all you say, there is one point I disagree with. Speed cameras, yes I too hate them due to the fact I feel that they are to a degree misused, (revenue rather than maximum usefulness) because, unfortunately they are usually placed in positions for maximum revenue rather than in places where they are needed most. A points just before, where accidents happen repeatedly, black spots and the like.

Further more receiving a fine after a fortnight or so is farcical from the point of reducing road carnage especially for the wealthy.

So my point is. Be made aware of your dangerous fault as it happens. flash and road signs letting you wake up, worry and hopefully correct your error. They also take away irresponsible drivers points and idiot drivers of all their points keeping them off the roads for at least a while.

Yes I also believe you can't beat being pulled over by a man in blue. If he is good at what he does, he, while being courteous will issue you with your notice of infringement with the expected consequences but also give you a good dressing down. Leaving you feeling guilty, remorseful and a bit like a jelly. Which has a decided effect of making you take stock and slowing up. Plus, at the same time check you for alcohol and drug use.

Before I go on, this should really be moved to another thread.

Anyway, the flash of a camera doesn't do much. The fine can be passed onto other people or previous owners and the points put on someone else too. Also you've already been caught so you don't care anymore, may as well keep speeding anyway.
Cameras do sweet fark all to increase road safety. The one person they catch an hour doesn't make up for the 5000 that slam on their brakes to drop 15kms below the limit in fear of a fine. I've never driven past a camera where traffic didn't drop at least 10km. That's dangerous. More dangerous than one or two dudes going 115kmh. It's so backwards.

Also basic sociological studies have found that changing behaviour using negative repercussions only works when the person is caught in the act or pulled up very quickly. If the behaviour is left unchecked for a small period of time then it has no effect on changing one's habits. Like children basically. Increased presence solves that issue. Also if you know there are always police somewhere near you, you aren't going to speed in the first place. Again, go to the root source. Cameras only create scared drivers and also don't change behavioural patterns. What are they left doing? Collecting cash monies. Granted they work on some people but their usefulness is greatly outweighed by their stupidity. Like religion. Need less of that too.

Agreed wrong thread.

To each his own!!
I get caught I pay the penalty. Its called honesty!

Back to the right thread. Filled the tank brim full while prices are down. Keep me going for a month or more.

Replaced the standard 04 wagon carpet with some deep pile moulded carpet, mongoose soundproofing over floor plus 2 layers underfelt, now it's nice and quite!

Vacuumed the inside, floors mats, seats etc. Armor All over all the vinyl and leather. What a difference obviously hadn't had anything done since build date in 2014.
What was a dull grey that I accepted as being normal being a new car is now a glossy black. Must get my windows tinted to protect the interior.

Wow, sounds great, unfortunately moulded carpets aren't available for CJs yet. Maybe with end of model run it might happen.

Yes, i know what you mean peregrine, moulded car carpets are not yet made to suit CH lancers yet ?? i rang 4 places and checked on ebay, no luck so you might be waiting a while.
I ended up using some CC moulded carpets/underfelt /silver soundproofing felt/deading mats from " No Bull Accessories" in Brisbane (formally QLD moulded car carpets), floor plan for CC / CE / very similar to CH, minor difference in length/width + floor ribbing, pain in backside to fit, especially the 2 metal plates attached to the drivers side carpet and foam under carpet shield pass side.

I do have a question, what are the two little (not connected) red plugs under the drivers seat/pass seat for (2 pin connectors) or did i miss something?? can't seem to find them on wiring diagram?

Not really something done to the car, but still just as cool.

10/10 cooler than a mod.

Except you might want/have to do some before you use that

Absolutely annihilated one or more of my exhaust gaskets.. Car was loud before, now its stupid hah

I think seatbelts operate via module under dash, i will open a new thread about these plugs before we go off topic too much?
