Advice for buying an old CB

Hi guys and girls,

I am just looking to buy an old cheap car for my fiance so that she doesn't have to drive mine around.
We are looking at a 1991 (CB I assume) 3 door Lancer hatch.
Rough-ish, cheap, cheap-to-run apparently.

While I do know a fair bit about cars in general, I have never owned a Lancer or even a Mitsubishi before.

Is there anything specific to these models that I should be looking for?

Thanks for the help, and we look forward to being a part of this community.

Karl.

In short, I wouldn't buy it for a reliable runaround. Will most likely turn into a money pit purely because of its age. At the 20 year mark your average Lancer starts to die and wear out. Bushes, seals, rubbers, little things like that which turn into an expensive nightmare.
Get a commo or an excel for a crappy runaround. Or if your budget is 2-3k look for a CE Lancer instead. 96-03 for coupes. 96-01 or 02 for sedans. Maybe even a Mirage. Wayyy more reliable and less likely to turn into a money sucking hunk of *poo*.

Don't get me wrong, Mitsubishi's are cheapppp to own and maintain, but at 25 years old a CB is more than likely going to suck you dry. In a bad way.

Whats your budget???

So i can give you a list of cars that would be far reliable than a CB
