Big cam options?

I'm sure this has been posted numerous times... but what options are their for buying a larger cam for the sohc 4g93??? Like brands and where to buy it from. Also what do I do about the ECU if I go down that road? can I just reflash the stock 93 plastic cased ECU or do I have to get an entirely new system, or are their piggy back options? Thanks!

Any shop that specialises in camshafts can make you a cam or organise to have a cam made for you. If you're getting one made up, you can literally pick any specs you want. Cam profile is a very very application specific thing too.

No need to retune the stock ecu for a larger cam - the stock ecu has enough of a feedback loop to adjust and make the most of the cam, with the exception of timing. Expect to pick up at most 10-15% power in an NA build. Several standalone and piggy options are around, all $2-500+, for about the same amount of gains. Talk to whoever's your tuner is to see what they prefer to tune, as that will save so many headaches later

lol I'm not that rich ahhahha its a 1000$ car... was looking at maybe a 262-268 cam, is their something I could just order online? I could possibly do a very basic tune on my own (advance timing slightly, richen it slightly) maybe even increase the limiter to 7000 maybe?

HENS is sydney, so you’d need the same deal on postage. The best things arent easy.

i mean like i said... $1000 dollar car and for $400 dollars i can have a stage 2 hens cam and a reflashed ecu, think thats the path imma go down

And you'll have a car that goes like a $1400 car would go.

Henry @Hens does quality work, but i wouldn't expect miracles for $1400.

im not really going for super high quality, I know a $250 cam is not gonna be near as efficient or long lasting as a specifically made billet camshaft. But I really just wanna see 15 second passes, still look 100% legal & not break the bank while doing it

now need some performance valve springs, anybody know where to get cheap valve springs??? this is all gonna be the first thing I buy when i get the money

A 4g93 swapped Mirage will do low 15.xxx easy as piss, a well driven 4g15 will get into the 15.xxx too.

Hens should be able to get valve springs, otherwise check out his mate Yez Racing @YEZZZ. I think i got mine from him

Are you going to be fitting the cam yourself?

If so, may aswell save the extra $$ on aftermarket valve springs you may not need. Fit the cam and drive it. And if you do need them, no sweat, labour is free, so fit them after.

yes im going to be installing every bolt on my car from my hands, and I do intend to track/funday my car (not race but for fun) and the valve springs are potentially the factory 320000 kilometre valve springs (doubt it though) so either way im going to need new valve springs, and according to some other people online the stock valve springs will float if you go over stock 6800rpm (actually i think it starts floating at 6000rpm lol) so either way im going to need new ones... if there is a significant price difference, might just go stock (only intend to limit to 7k anyway) but if their similar price, it might be worth it for peace of mind

Stick springs with everything else stock will float around 7100ish. New stiffer springs should be around $150-250, and another $80 for the tool to install them. Bigger cam will usually push the power band up the rpm range, hence why you should get stiff springs to take advantage of it.

Clive cams re-grind was around 268 degrees and around $300 or $400 from memory, call for a price.
