Mirage 4g63t swap build parts info/list compile.

Sorry my question was a bit unclear.
I meant if going a full standalone ECU (e.g, Haltech) can someone avoid buying a front cut (and hence complete wiring)?

As a front cut is 6k+ but a 4G63 long block is 2k or less.
In this instance the transmission won't be used, the turbo manifold needs to be customized, the intercooler piping needs changes, and if not using the stock ECU what else would be needed from the front cut other than engine mounts?

I know it'd be a lot tough to swap but maybe more cost effective too?

It's entirely possible to use a 4g15 ECU and reflash it to suit the 4g63. You would need to add a couple wires for the knock sensor, and change one or two other pins, but we're talking less than about 3hours of work of wiring. Of course you need to have the knowledge and skill to do so for the reflashing, but yeah

Would that be a good way of going about it though?
ie, get a Evo long block, 4G69 transmission, 4G15 wiring/ECU and then customize the turbo setup?

There is more than one was to skin a cat.

4g15 ecu is an example, the 4g93 ecu would work equally good

I was more wondering how would someone go ahead with this if they had no wiring to begin with.
Specifically in my case if I were to sell my motor/loom/transmission to go 4G63.

But I am also concerned with engine weight for handling and thinking whether the CM5A engine would be a better option.
Problem is it does not make enough power stock and I am not interested in modifying it.
The beauty of the 4G63T for a track car is that it is fast enough and will (hopefully) have the luxury of OEM reliability

Well spetz that's what I'm going for, all aside from reflashing the ecu to 63t, that's not something that's crossed my mind. I:m, personally chasing something merely fun and reliable whilst at the same time hopefully putting together something informative, helpful and also reliable in the process.
If I can rustle some spooly Boi feathers to join in in this process then it's a win win.
Knowing sensors though surely the 4g15 outputs vary greatly from the 63t. I question it as an option but surely can't rule it out as both lancer and mirage share the 15, but generally speaking, when u grab an engine like this I would expect u grab the loom and ecu at the same time. But in saying that how is this going to help those who haven't if no one looks for a way around that.
This is where I'll need a spare ecu and well, someone capable of a flash, I'm a mechanic sure, but I haven't fiddled that deep on any car.

I might have missed it but why are you trying not to use the eve box?

What is this?
LOL, thats all that is XD

and yeah Mor31, this is to build a list of compatible parts for CE fitments, without (like i mentioned before) mutilating a perfectly good evo transfer/box.
I'm hoping that by the end of this there is a solid list on will and wont fit.

So far gearbox combos im looking to purchase
4g64
4g69
6a12

may even try 4g15 box, but lol only to watch it explode

I think the gearbox strengths are mostly the same (with the exception of Evo).
So 4G15 and 4G69 gearboxes would handle roughly the same power.
Driveshafts are thicker on the more powerful FWD cars.

6a12 won’t fit so not sure why you’d bother?

4g64 and 4g69 are the only ones that fit a 63.

Any thing else will not.

Just trying to gather names here.
Anyone know anywhere/someone in QLD that could do up a custom manifold?

Otaku Garage at Caboolture or there's a few GC shops like Forbidden Performance.

Thanks mate, I'll get a quote from both when I hit that point, won't be far off, picking up a spare car for dummy fit in the next week and a bit, then gettin this party started =)

What’s there to test fit into the chassis. For how many times this swap has been covered it’s pretty clear it fits in like factory

For myself there's a couple of reasons not downing my daily for more than a day and well dummy car comes with the interior I wanted. Asside from that I'm looking to test a few combinations of gearbox so I can say 100% this will fit when I go to write all this up for others.

You're gonna do a 4g63t swap in 1 day? Oh boy. Even if you had everything mapped out 100% I think it would take longer than that because bullshit arises in these situations 100% of the time and then troubleshooting take twice as long :( I'd give yourself 1 day to get the 4g15 out and the 4g63t in, then troubleshooting and junk for the 2nd day and making sure everything actually works while piecing it back together. Totally doable in a weekend if well prepped but yeah, 1 day turnaround is nuts

Making sure it's working should be covered from dummy fit also including finding out what adjustments the car needs prior to fitment, nuts... Yea I probably am XD, you're likely right and it'll take alot longer, lucky I still have 2 other cars, but this will take the stress off dailying those for too long and allow time to fiddle with the dummy to get it tip top.

Oh well that’s alright. No mivec means one less head ache.

Brain has been ticking over, I have a feeling a mirage diff can fit in a 64/69 gearbox too with the right combo of shims and bearings. Would mean you could get an 4g6x fwd box and get s gearbox shop to fit a 25spline CE diff. Would make things easier to source parts and 69 boxes are done a dozen

Yes you’ll need a cn9a/cp9a engine mount rather then a ct9a

Sorry if i have missed something in this thread, but if going for a 4g69 gbox why not just use g69 shafts as well? or does the g63 not have the mount for the drivers side driveshaft?
