Intermittent starting IN 2007 CH

Hi, sometimes will not crank in park, though turn off and try again, it usually starts. Will crank in neutral. I'm thinking inhibitor switch. Anyone has this trouble, please? The stater and alternator are original. Advice from three workshops stated a dead battery cell and recommended a battery (fitted four months) problem remains. Problem occurs with both keys.

If you giggle the selector in park while turning key, does it make any difference ?
If it starts in neutral everytime then chances are it’s the inhibitor switch is slightly out of adjustment, work just need to confirm this and do slight adjustment on switch.
Other possible cause is your ignition switch starting to fail intermitently, still doesn’t explain the neutral starting through, unless it’s just bad timing.
It it was battery like the geniuses said in the 3 workshops you went to it would be doing it in park and in neutral, not just park.
Check the switch adjustment and switch first, then look at ignition switch next

Many thanks, appreciate this. It will work OK if I try a restart, or will kick over if the key is held in the start position. I'll get a price for a switch (wont hold my breath for a dealer price) and get the other tested.

They are on eBay, may or may not be as good a genuine, definitley cheaper.

Or you could try this site.......www.partsouq.com , at least 40-60% cheaper than australian Mitzi dealers, usually arrives in 4-7 days time, just enter your vin number, go to applicable section, take paypal, visa etc. If you enter you vin number than you can’t order wrong part, as it’s specific to your car only.

Even if you don’t use them this time, handy to know, saved me heaps over the years.

Thanks Heaps, not have had to get many parts, over 12 years, car has been a dream thus far. Had to do a full shock replacement at 100K, $1050 with genuine tops and bearings. Mrs Bishi wanted around 2600.

Thanks All it was the ignition switch. I paid a bit more ($240) to get it done. But at my age now, its a bit hard to bend a stuffed back to get into places. Auto lecky said its a common fault, so he keeps switches in stock. He also mentioned that the indicator switch can malfunction.

So it was the ignition switch in the end, not inhibitor?

So it was the ignition switch in the end, not inhibitor? So he said. I'll keep an eye on it.
